I saw all your reviews before I went into the Standard Optical in Bountiful and decided to try them anyways since they take my insurance. I went in and had an exam and got glasses and they turned out great and also got great service! No complaints from me!

I have ordered two pairs of glasses from this company at two separate times. They CANNOT cut the lenses to match the frames if their life depended on it. Looks like crap. I paid over $400 for my glasses and they look like I bought them from the dollar store. I lied, dollar store glasses have lenses that are cut correctly to the frame. I keep having the glasses sent back to have them cut correctly, only for them to come back cut incorrect in another place. The Standard Optical employee tells me that spaces between the lense and the frame are normal. I beg to differ. If there is light passing between the fram and lens then you need to hire someone that can cut a lens correctly.

Thanks for your blog post. I have had a terrible experience with Standard Optical in Orem. They lied to me as well when I was researching them. I needed glasses for my infant and asked the manager himself if he had fitted infants and had frames available. He assured me he had and could offer what I needed. After buying the frames the ladies working tell me they have NEVER worked with an infant before! Neither has the manager. I have talked to or been to there store everyday for 2 weeks. I still can't get my refund for glasses that don't even fit my baby. So frustrating!!!

I'd like to offer a good alternative to Bountiful Standard Optical. Yesterday I visited the LensCrafters in the Gateway in SLC. My 7-year old son needed his first pair of glasses. He and I both had exams and picked out new glasses. Both the doctor and the sales staff were friendly and polite. There was a problem with my son's lenses which caused them to break during the lab's 1 hour build time. We were given a free cleaning kit for our trouble (waiting an extra 30 minutes--no big deal). All in all, a great experience.

Isn't that the place that messed up Dad's glasses like 3 or 4 times before they FINALLY got it right? You should check with him.

Also, I always feel better after reading your customer service posts. I feel like because you follow through, something might, just might, change in the world. Thanks. ;)
